Steven Moffat Doesn’t Understand Grief, and It’s Killing Doctor Who

There’s a popular joke I’ve seen floating around on Tumblr for a while now. It goes like this:

“Joss Whedon, Steven Moffat and George R.R. Martin walk into a bar and everyone you’ve ever loved dies.”

    Here’s the problem, though:

SOMEBODY FINALLY FUCKING SAID IT THANK YOU

"But more importantly than that, when you have no death, when nothing truly has weight or scale, when decisions don’t stick and nobody feels the consequences… it’s hard to care about anything. The stakes on the show feel so low at this point that a once addictive program is unengaging, dull and hollow."

A very smart writer of Pacific Rim once said “there are no heroes in a world where heroes can’t die”. And that’s what Doctor Who has lost for me.

    Amazing article.  Also, spot on.

  4. Steven Moffat’s Doctor Who is just so tedious.

It’s all yours - Planet Earth. Now that’s a retirement plan. But just you be careful, though. No interfering. I don’t want any trouble. Just… just have a nice life.
Oh Doctor, I will make you proud.

GUYS, YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF THIS SCENE.

MR. COPPER WENT ON TO CREATE THE MR. COPPER FOUNDATION.

YOU KNOW, THE MR. COPPER FOUNDATION WHICH INVENTED THE SUBWAVE NETWORK.

THE SUBWAVE NETWORK WHICH HARRIET JONES USED IN ‘THE STOLEN EARTH’ TO BRING THE DOCTOR BACK TO EARTH TO FIGHT THE DALEK INVASION AND STOP THE REALITY BOMB.

MR. COPPER IS THE BIGGEST UNSUNG HERO IN DOCTOR WHO.

  6. the way that the doctor who fandom has turned on Steven Moffat brightens the darkest parts of my soul.

  7. I’m so happy that the rest of the DW fandom now dislikes Moffat as much as I always have lol

  8. Watching Doctor Who has become a chore.

  9. I’m sick of Steven Moffat.

  10. I still can’t believe BBC Television Centre is going to be closing. This building that I’ve never even stepped into means so much to me and I’m mad they are closing it before I got to visit. Fry and Laurie, Doctor Who and bazillions of other favourites work there and I always thought I’d get to work there too (pending luck and talent) but I guess it’s not to be. David Mitchell has a picture of TV Centre in his book with the caption “the end”, and that’s exactly how I feel about it…it’s the top of the ladder I dreamt for myself and soon it will be gone.
